Details
Orga III is another technical and less-travelled peak located in the Karakoram Range in Pakistan. At 7,040 meters (23,101 feet), it is slightly higher than Orga II and presents a challenging climb for mountaineers. Although not as famous as peaks like K2, Broad Peak, or Gasherbrum, Orga III offers a thrilling adventure for experienced climbers seeking a less crowded, remote peak in the heart of the Karakoram. The climb involves steep rock faces, technical ice climbing, and glacier navigation, making it suitable for climbers with high-altitude experience and technical skills.
Itinerary
International flights arrive in Islamabad with time to relax and enjoy a well earned rest in our very comfortable hotel. Tour the exciting bazaars of Rawalpindi where you will see much gold and silver jewellery, Kasmiri shawls and Bokarra carpets.
• Take a flight from Islamabad to Skardu (or travel by road, depending on weather conditions). • Skardu is the gateway to the Karakoram mountains. • Rest day to prepare and acclimatize before heading to the base camp.
• Travel by jeep from Skardu to Askole (approximately 8-10 hours). • Askole is a small village and the last inhabited settlement before the wilderness of the mountains. • Set up camp and prepare for the trek ahead.
• Begin the trek toward Orgu III Base Camp, located around 4,800 meters (15,748 feet). • The trek involves crossing glaciers, rocky paths, and alpine meadows. It will take about 4-5 days to reach Base Camp. • Upon arrival, set up Base Camp and rest to acclimatize to the altitude.
• Move from Base Camp to Camp I, which will be located at around 5,500 meters (18,044 feet). • This section involves glacier travel, rock climbing, and ice climbing. • Spend a few days at Camp I to acclimatize and prepare for the next phase.
• Continue the climb from Camp I to Camp II, at an elevation of 6,000 meters (19,685 feet). • This stage will be physically demanding, involving technical rock climbing and ice sections. • Set up Camp II and spend a few days resting and preparing for the summit attempt.
• Begin your summit attempt from Camp II, aiming to reach the peak at 7,040 meters (23,101 feet). • The final ascent is a mix of rock climbing, ice climbing, and ridge work. • Once you summit, enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding Karakoram peaks, including K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum.
• After summiting, descend back to Base Camp, then continue the descent to Askole. • From Askole, take a jeep ride back to Skardu.
• Fly or drive back from Skardu to Islamabad. • Rest in Islamabad before returning to your home country.
